Strike Assist allows the bait to get sucked towards the fish's mouth, allowing more fish to get hooked and stay hooked. Fish use suction feeding to pull prey items into their mouth. When trolling, tension from the fishing line can prevent this from happening.

When the bait/lure is being pulled behind the Strike Assist it will partially extend the spring inside the body of the device. (Prototype Shown, Patent Pending)
When a fish strikes, it opens its' mouth rapidly (1/20th of a second) and draws water and the prey (or bait/lure) into its' mouth.
The increase in water velocity caused by the fish's strike increases the drag force generated by the bait/lure. This causes the spring inside the Strike Assist to stretch allowing the bait/lure to be sucked into the fish's mouth.
(Prototype Shown)
During the two years of product testing, rods with a Strike Assist caught an average of 35% more fish. This was calculated by comparing rods with vs rods without a Strike Assist on the same trip and includes a total of 1,366 fish caught (browns, steelhead, lakers, kings, coho, walleye, smallmouth, perch and sheephead).
